Account help
Creating an account, signing in, and getting back in.
Creating an account
Your name, your email and a password — or Google, where it’s offered — then a name and a handle, and you’re in.
- Choose Start Creating. Add your name, your email and a password of at least 10 characters with letters and numbers, tick the box to say you’re 18 or older and agree to the Terms and Privacy notice, then choose Let’s begin. Where it’s switched on, Continue with Google works too.
- If you’re asked to confirm your email, open the message we sent, then come back and sign in.
- On the welcome screen, give your name and a handle, then choose Enter your studio. Your handle becomes part of your public address: 3 to 30 lowercase letters, numbers or underscores.
- Everything else about you — a photo, a bio, your disciplines, languages, tone and style — is asked later, in Settings, when it matters. Nothing else is required to begin.
Signing in and account security
Email and password, Google where it’s offered, and an extra code if you’ve turned on two-step verification.
- Sign in with your email and password. Where it’s switched on, Continue with Google also appears on the sign-in and sign-up pages.
- If you’ve turned on two-step verification, you’re asked for the 6-digit code from your authenticator app right after your password.
- Forgot your password? Choose Forgot your password? on the sign-in page and follow the email.
- To change your password or turn two-step verification on or off, go to Settings, then Privacy & Security. Changing your password asks for your current one.
- Turning two-step verification off needs a verified session, so you’ll be asked for a code first.
- Deleting your account asks for your password again, to make sure it’s you.
I can’t sign in
Wrong password, an expired link, a code that won’t work, or a message about confirming your email.
- “That email and password don’t match.” Check the email and the password, then try again. Use Forgot your password? if you need a new one.
- “Check your email to confirm your account.” Open the message we sent, then come back and sign in.
- “That link has expired or was already used.” Sign in again to get a fresh link.
- “Google sign-in didn’t finish.” Try again, or use your email and password.
- “That code isn’t right, or it expired.” Use the latest 6-digit code in your authenticator app.
